Clear Aligners / Invisalign
- Clear aligners therapy is a form of orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear trays to move teeth into a better position.
- Orthodontic records include taking an intra-oral scan, panoramic xray and photos after which a custom series of aligners are fabricated to be worn over the next 6-24 months in order to slowly align your teeth.
- Clear aligners allows us to correct / improve crowding, spacing, overbites, underbites and crossbites in order to improve aesthetics, function and improve oral hygiene
- Aligns must be worn for 22 hours per day and are removed to eat, drink and brush/floss.
- Most people don’t even know you are wearing aligners.
- Once the active phase of orthodontic treatment is completed a more robust tray is worn at night in order to keep the teeth in their new position. This is called retention and may be in conjunction for a fixed wire on the inside of the front teeth.
FAQs
How do I know if clear aligners are right for me?
Clear aligners are able to correct most dental malocclusions. However, in severe cases traditional brackets may be required. Book a consultation with Dr. Lamantia to learn more.
Will my speech change wearing clear aligners?
Some people may develop a slight lisp during the first week or so of initial wear as they get used to wear them. This is often transient as your speech returns to normal.
Are clear aligners more costly than traditional braces?
No. Orthodontic treatment costs are based on case complexity and time of treatment. The costs are often comparable to fixed braces.
